Abstract

The global environments are contaminated day by day due to urbanization, industrialization, burning of fossil fuels etc. The reasons of behind this the removal of toxic gases in environment and when these gases are mixed with wet air which may cause to form acidic rain, fog and snow, also referred as acid precipitation. This study examined the effect of simulated acid rain (SAR) on morphology and phytochemicals attributes of Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L. (Guar). For experimental purposes, different pH ranges were made by using HNO3 then Cyanosis tetragonoloba (L.) plant was treated with various levels of pHs among three replicates. The results of present study showed that the growth of guar was remarkably inhibited by SAR of pH 2.0 and pH 3.0. However, number of leaves and shoots were appeared but badly influenced when treated with SAR solution of pH 4 and pH 5. Whilst, the number of leaves, shoot length and number of fruit increased at pH 6. A comparative study of the phytochemical investigation of SAR affected plants with control were also conducted that exhibited high total protein content, total sugar, phenolic compounds, and antioxidant activity though reduced at low pH 4 and 5 of HNO3 used as SAR. It was observed that the growth and phytochemicals ingredients at low pH was highly reduced and badly affected at lower pH levels of HNO3 in comparison to Control.
