EFFECT OF NaCl SALINITY ON THE GERMINATION AND SEEDLING GROWTH OF SEVEN WHEAT GENOTYPES
ZAHIR MUHAMMAD1* AND FARRUKH HUSSAIN2
Abstract: Seeds of seven wheat genotypes were subjected to 0.02 (control), 2, 4, 6 and 8 dS/m NaCl salinity under laboratory conditions. Germination percentage varied significantly among various genotypes, while non-significant differences were found between different concentrations of salt. However, seedling growth characters studied varied significantly among various genotypes as well as under different levels of salt. Interaction between genotypes and salt concentrations was also significant.
