BIODIVERSITY OF YEAST MYCOFLORA IN NECTAR OF MALVAVISCUS ARBOREUS AND PANCRATIUM BIFLORUM FLOWERS

Abstract: A total of 11 species belonging to 8 genera of yeasts were isolated from nectar of Malvaviscus arboreus and 26 species belonging to 12 genera from nectar of Pancratium biflorum flowers. The isolated yeast species were identified on the basis of morphological and physiological / biochemical characters. Cryptococcus albidus, C. laurentii, C. macerans, Debaryomyces castellii, Phaffia rhodozyma and Pseudozyma fusiformata were predominantly isolated from nectar of Malvaviscus arboreus and Pancratium biflorum.
