Abstract: Variability among 12 isolates of
Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc collected from various localities of
chickpea growing areas of Punjab province was studied. The
isolates varied in colony morphology, mycelial growth rate,
sclerotial formation, sclerotial size and color.
Variability among the isolates of S. rolfsii was determined on
the basis of their sensitivity to different fungicides. Mycelial
incompatibility among the isolates was also studied and out of 66
combinations, only 26 combinations (39%) showed compatible
reactions. Based on mycelial compatibility, 39% vegetative compatibility
groups (VCG) were identified among the isolates.
